I fully agree with the comment that most of the obstacles are with the instrumentation systema and the reluctance of the instrument guys to thwart them.
Better would be a chemical engineer with strong experience would be an asset to bridge the gap.
I say this, because I myself a chemical engineer with over 10 years as an Instrument engineer had played vital roles in doing that.
