I have not seen standpipe aeration flows used as MVs. Besides looking at the pressures along the standpipe, calculating the catalyst Fluid density and Bulk density in the standpipe may tell you something about proper aeration from a process engineering standpoint. In general, I would resist the temptation to "monkey around" with the aeration once the catalyst circulation was steady.
